What's it all about?

Patchwork and quilting has always fascinated me. The patterns, the pictures, the colours. It always looked so complex, so difficult to acheive.

So, when our local sewing shop offered a course on how to make a patchwork quilt, I was eager to start. Each week for two months, my sewing machine, materials and I made the trip for a lesson on a new technique.

Often we think these things are only for bored old grannies, who’re unable to acheive anything more challenging in life. Or the sewing circle - where you drink tea and find out all of the local gossip.

Well think again! If you want a real challenge - try patchwork quilting. Join the local sewing circle, catch up on the latest news, have some tea, enjoy the company, and most of all, challenge yourself.

While you may learn all sorts of interesting things about your neighbours, sewing, materials, your machine, the most important things will be what you learn about yourself.

As with everything in life, the most complex pictures are created from the simplest of building blocks. The quality of the picture you create is a result of the time, effort, focus, love that you put into each step. The satisfaction you get from the final product is entirely dependant on your input.
